Houseplants and why we should decorate with them

Fantastic Frank

Maybe it's just me and my wishful thinking, hoping Spring will come in February this year, but lately I have been thinking more about houseplants and how I can integrate them to my space. Everyone knows plants add texture and soften spaces that otherwise can feel too harsh and unwelcoming. They bring life to any room, they can be the best room dividers and great focal points for your design scheme. But really, all I want is a bit of spring in my home. Enjoy the photos (after the jump) and have a great weekend.

I am loving this understated family home in Sweden. The simplicity of the colour palette and the combination of designer pieces with high street and retro style furniture is just fabulous. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Photography by Kristina Krogh

This month I am crushing on the work of Danish graphic designer, Kristina Krogh. Kristina founded  her studio in Copenhagen back in 2012 and specialises in graphic and product design. Taking inspiration from her daily life, Kristina creates extraordinary pieces featuring interesting geometric shapes, contrasts, bold and pale colours and gorgeous textures.
"In my work I'm fascinated by different materials and their surfaces which can either be cold, warm, soft, hard, heavy or light. I think the strong mix of theses exclusive and cheap textual materials such as marble, ply, wood, cork and paper is an interesting and unexpected combination that I love."
I am specially loving the green "Waves" poster (in photo above). I don't think I can live without it! Check out her complete artwork and shop here and her beautiful collaboration with ferm LIVING here.

Fantastic Frank, styling by Claudia Reimann, photograpy by Magnus Pettersson

The new season's big source of inspiration is nature, in its most minimalistic and natural way, and we are going to see a shift of the colour palette towards softer and cooler tones. Understated brights such as aquamarine, lucite green, strawberry ice, custard and tangerine will be paired with pale pastels like dusk blue and lavender and with nature inspired greens and light browns. Copper and brass accessories continue to be a huge trend and we will see more of this in the new collections. Today's home tour is right on the mark regarding the new trends as it achieves a minimalistic yet natural look. I hope you feel as inspired as I am with these photos. You can check more photos of this house, which is for sale, at Fantastic Frank.

Stadshem, Photography by Jonas Berg

I'm back from London where I had a great time checking out the new Spring/Summer collections, visiting some museums and sharing lovely meals with family and friends. I had the best company, my 5-year old son, who was as excited as me checking out cool stationery, but was less than impressed with home accessories. I had to trade off that for a few visits to toy shops. I have great things to share with you in the coming weeks but for today I want to share a gorgeous Swedish home with a great mix of vintage and designer pieces. I love the display of art and the contrast of white and wood.
